painting carpet?

This isn't really the right forum but I didn't think it fit in the audio forum...

I made one of these minus the horse..

My question is, how do I paint on it?  I can't get the horse piece to come out right.  So I figure I will make to running ponies on both sides and paint them with white paint.  Is this as simple as making a masking tape stencil and spray painting it or is there a special process and paint involved?

You can paint the carpet with carpet paint, but it just lightly dyes the carpet, and it doesnt really last that long. If you were to use a stencil and paint over the carpet even with carpet paint, it would look blurry around the edges, and might look somewhate decent for a few months, then fade in some parts and look like crap.

If you used normal paint, a latex base or acrylic base, I am pretty sure it would just clump on the carpet and look like crap. Even doing silk screening would look pretty crappy. You are better off just using a different color of carpet. Use a skill saw, and cut out a horse, then wrap carpet around it. If you cant get the carpet around it properly, then take it to get professionaly done.

cool thanks guys, but I came up with an idea.  I am going to cut out the horse and then get that trunk paint, that stuff that is like 3 different colors, white black and gray.  And paint the horse.  That way I don't mess with carpet and the paint will stick to the wood.  I may even just use plastic instead of wood.
