Hello everyone:

I'm new to this forum and I'm looking for advice into installing a set of Putco LED Cargo Light Kit  http://www.putco.com/product/LED_Cargo_Light/ to my 2006 Nissan Frontier truck and have a couple of questions.

I like to piggyback these LED lights to the rocker Cargo Light switch already in the cab, and was considering doing the connection at the 3rd Brake Light/Cargo Light lamp.
Can this be accomplished? Will I need a relay? Will it be cheaper and/or easier if I purchase all parts separately (lights, wire, relay, connectors, etc.) and start from scratch? The Putco kit costs about $80.00, and as far as automotive electrical knowledge goes, I consider myself a novice.

Any ideas/suggestions as to how to connect the cargo light kit will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys!

You could go to the third brake light and run a wire down the inside, but it might be easier to pick up a dome light wire any where else. I doubt the LED will draw much power, but it would be nice to isolate the LEDs from the cab lights.

Thanks for your reply reax222.

That's also a good idea, I might go that route. I'm waiting on getting the lights delivered to my house. As you pointed out, LED lights amp draw is very low so tapping into a constant power supply should be pretty safe and the way to go. I am considering doing this via the trailer wiring harness.

Again, appreciate your suggestions.

Andy
