So my girlfriend has a 2011 Nissan Altima and said that it would be cool to always have the autoheadlight on mode on even if switching off. She was just blabbering and not serious about this, but I was just curious if i could actually do this. Ive messed with a lot of electronics all my life but never with car electronics. I think this would be a cool way to begin my education on electronics in automobiles.
Basic goal is to no matter what setting, on/off/foglight or whatever is on that switch, the headlights will always be on auto.
If anyone has any feedback or warning for me, please enlighten me.
Thanks, seems like a fun community to learn from and eventually collaborate with.

Put it on auto and leave it there; always on auto...
Else, you will have to hard wire it to auto, and bypass the switch for the other modes altogether. You'll lose the fog lamps, unless you leave that wire stock.
You'll have to check the wiring diagram for that switch, before any action should be taken. New cars are not like hey used to be...
