cold cathodes

i just installed 4 blue cold cathodes into my car, and there only lighting up half the bar.
Can anyone let me no how to fix this or things to try?
Im gonna take a stab and guess its a power issue

Did you extend the wires from the transformer to the cathodes? That would be the reason if so- it is an ultra low alternating current and will not travel far. If not, make sure you're grounded properly and probably test the voltage from your hot wire.

Not really. The current from the transformer to the cathodes is very small. The longer your wires, the less current you'll get to the cathodes. If you need them spaced farther apart, I would suggest getting another transformer (or kit). You can have your power leads about as long as you want from your 12v to the transformer.

one last question, would a diode work on the negative side the same as it would the positive? or is there something equivalent that does the same job for negative sides?
