Hello all, I need some help...
I am fixing to install my subs (Hopefully as soon as I get a response!) and I need some expert opinion. Can I wire my subs up to the prefab boxes using 12 ga wire but have the runs of wire from the amp to the speaker and bridging the boxes together in 8 ga? And lastly do I need to solder the wires to the box or can I wrap and them then tape them? (Yes I know Using the SAME wires AND soldering would be best however it is not financially practical right now which is why Im trying to do it this way. Ive already spent waaaay to much :)
BACKGROUND
My subs are Kicker 07CVR15-4 (15" 4 Ohm DVC CompVR's) and my amp is a Power Acoustik PS1-4000D 1700 RMS @ 2 ohm 4k peak. I plan to wire the subs at a 2 ohm load with the Voice coils wired in series and the speakers wired in parallel (Image Here)

Don't rely on twisting and taping.  Twist and solder or buy crimp-type connectors and a crimper.  Or some various other connectors.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
