ipod bass problem

I've narrowed my low freq bass problems down to the ipod. I have an alpine cda-9815 with the ipod running through the aux via the long multi pin-to-alpine ai net cable. I can play a song on the ipod, then I can play the same song through the cd player and the bass is considerably stronger and plays the deeper notes on the cd. Is there any fix for this, maybe hacking and editing the ipod for maybe a frequency cut off point? anyone else ran into this problem before?

It's COMPRESSED! MP3s have HORRIFFIC low frequency response. My suggestion would be use lossless compression formats. Oh, wait... you can't do that with iTunes. One more reason NOT to use iTunes. I have three words for you... "Media Monkey", and "dBPowerAmp". Both free applications, (and they DON'T overtake your system with security holes and bloatware, mandatory re-alignment of YOUR audio library, OR a huge footprint) the dBPowerAmp is for ripping, and the Media Monkey is for iPod control. Media Monkey also lets you copy back and forth, to and from the iPod, where iTunes will only allow you to delete the song, once in place on the portable.It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

there are a couple of settings you can change in itunes. go to the options menu and look for the "rip/burn" tab. under rip there should be a option that says something like "filter sub bass frequencies or something like that. you should turn that off. next, may sure the same setting is not turned on on your ipod itself. the ipod uses this filter so you dont blow your earphones but you dont need it when you hook it to a car stereo. use only high quality MP3's 260kbps and up. anything less might sound bad and the bass wont be very good.
