My current setup is two 12 inch Kicker L7 DVC 4 Ohm (2008). A 1500 Quantum Monoblock amp (QSA1500D). I have both subs wired as parallel and connected to the amps Positive and Negative (this amp has two outputs so each sub got its own terminal on the amp). Right now the amp gets really hot and will cut off for about 3 mins after about 20 minutes of knocking.

Called the local audio store and they said that im hurting my amp. They just told me to come check out there amps. But im wondering are is my wiring wrong? Here are the specs of the amp:

2 ohm 1 x 1500watts

4 ohm 1 x 750 watts

If the people at the store are telling the truth what kind of amp should i get?

Your amp is only 2 ohm stable and you are running a 1 ohm load. Thats the problem. yes 1500x1 but @ 2 ohm. You will have to wire your subs for a 4ohm load or buy a new amp to support a 1 ohm load.

Yes this will burn your amp up running it this way

Well, I wasn't able to find ANY real specs on that amplifier, but I WAS able to find it online... for 127 dollars! From that price, I'm GUESSING... what... two 20A fuses? MAYBE two 30A fuses? There is NO WAY that is a 1500 watt amp.

It's cheeze. Period.

Now. To answer your question. Two DVC woofers can present a 1 ohm, 4 ohm, or 16 ohm load to a monoblock amplifier. The way you have it described, with the woofers in parallel, that means each woofer is wired to 2 ohms. 2 ohms in parallel with another 2 ohm load is 1 ohm! THIS is why your amp is shutting off. You have it wired to 1 ohm, my friend.

Yes, it is likely that you ARE hurting your amp. Rewire the woofers for SERIES, but leave the connections as they are on the amplifier. This will load the amp to 4 ohms, and it'll be much happier. You might not be, as you'll be running out of power sooner, BUT you won't be buying a new amp any sooner than you HAVE to!

i had the same problem, now i got 2 PA Fubars dual 4 ohms VCs, my question is how would i wire them to run them at a 1 ohm load with this amp? is it possible? http://www.planetaudiousa.com/main/626
