97 accord install

i have installed radio's in a couple of honda's before, and have not had a problem.

my question is :

does any one know if the plastic around the radio comes out, or if there is a tool to get the aftermarket sony radio out?

there are no apparent screws to get the plastic out.

thanks, there are no screws, so i must need the tool, and my friend does not have his, because the car audio shop that did the first install kept it.

Hey dude. I just took my gf's out yesterday.  I guess you've probably already got it out, or.. Done something, but the way you have to do it.. I guess if it's an LX, or.. whatever.. Just stick a screwdriver in the top, and pry it out of the clips it sticks in, then work your way down on both sides.  Take the ash tray out and there's a black screw under there that you need to take out.  Once you get it out, try to pull the console back, and when you do that you'll see 2 screws on the very back of that plastic piece.  They're screwed down under the middle console.  Take those 2 screws out and it will come right out.  Make sure to pull straight up on it and it won't break.  For more room to work, just disconnect your cig. lighter and lay it over to the side.

Like I said, you've prolly already got it done, but that's how I did it.  Too bad it took about an hour longer to actually do it than it did to type this..

yeah i got it out shortly after posting this, i needed the tool, but improvived and used two flat head screw drivers to get the radio out, with out removing the black plastic piece.

Hey dude, I just stuck a Sound Storm cd player in my gf's 97, and I had some questions about the dash.  After you stuck your headunit in, did you buy a trim kit with that little plastic box thing? Or can you use the stock one?  If you bought an aftermarket, where did you get it?

i didn't need a kit, the radio was a direct fit, and the trim piece came with the radio itself.
