Is it really that necessary?
I'm asking because I'm interested in a
JBL 1200.1               $270
MTX 8100D                 $360
Planet audio p2250d       not sure yet
DLS A6                    not sure yet
Price is a big concern to me and I'm trying to decide if the price difference between the JBL and the other amps is worth it.
Does anyone know the warrenty on DLS amps?
I can't find it anywhere.

The JBL 1200 1 is a very strong amp and so is the MTX 8100D. If I had to choose between all the amps listed above those would be at the top of my list. Now between the two of those I would have to go with the JBL it has some good clean power and better bang for the buck plus better specs all the way around

Agree with bberman--I'd go for the JBL.

As for the subsonic filter...I wouldn't base my decision on whether or not the amp in question has a subsonic filter.  I've always been a little dubious of the value of subsonic filters especially when the vehicle is not a hardcore competition setup.  In my opinion, there are other, more important factors that you'd want to pick the amp by (power per dollar, stability, etc.).

Thanks for the help guys, just one more question.
I thought that if you had a ported box you needed a subsonic filter? Is this true?

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.
