Hi, I have a 98 chevy silverado ext cab.  I have the Alpine IDA-X100 deck and the Infinity 475a amp.  I also installed Infinity kappa speakers.  The setup up sounds ok.  It has very good highs, but no mids whatsoever.  It was my first install, so I don't know alot about all the technical stuff, but I think it was pretty much straight forward.  And I also set my gain according to what I read here.  So if you have any ideas why I am not getting anything more then highs, please let me know, otherwise can you recommend me to some speakers that will.

Thank you, Ryan.

Does your radio have a built in crossover?   Is there a crossover on the amplifier?  Are you sure you have the positive and negative speaker wires connected to the proper terminals of the speakers?

Is there a switch or switches on the amp labeled as follows:  HP/Flat/LP  or HP/AP/LP?   A crossover keeps unwanted frequencies from getting to your speakers.  You may have the crossover set to High Pass and have the frequency adjusted to a high frequency, this will do what you are describing.

If you have no woofers installed on your system, set the crossover on the amp to Flat, AP or Full Range.

Just went out and checked, and the HP.  I switched it over and it helped, thank you. It sounds better but still not what i expected.  I have heard factory Grand Prixs with tons more bass.  Am I expecting to much without subs?

Have you checked the manual of your radio to see if you have the High Pass crossover turned on?  The one built into the radio.

Hey Ryan, I got 2-6" and 2-6x9's in my Frontier with a hundred watts to each, I guarantee there's no factory system that can touch the sound. Your equipment looks good but what size speakers and how many do you have running in the truck right now? Also, do your speakers have a snug fit to the mount and did you install any type of sound material? The wooden baffle is for support and proper fit. Sometimes adjustments may be required to accommodate upgrades.

I have not checked the crossover in the deck yet.  I will tomorrow.  I only have 4 speakers in it, 2-6" and 2-4x6". Unfortunetly I do not have any sound material, but soon.
