Hey people I want your opinion about which woofer is better, I am going to get an 18" - either Kicker CompVR or the Cerwin Vega Stroker. Also what your amp recommendations would be? I was thinking of Memphis 16MC1000D - supposed to be 1100 RMS @ 1 OHM, I had a smaller one before and those amps deliver what they promise.

I don't know if the Kicker Comp VR is in the same league as the CV Stroker. The Stroker is a very high performance SPL woofer. Don't get me wrong, the Comp VR's are good. I'd have to say the Kicker Solobaric 15L7 would be similar to the CV Stroker 18".
As for amps, I would look into the Kicker KX1200.1, Hifonics Z1000d/BX1000d, DEI 1100d, or MMATS DHC1400.1. All are very good amps.

what is your goal with this woofer? are you wanting to be really loud? or are you wanting something that sounds really nice?
I have a Stroker 18 that I sometimes throw into my car for competition fun...while it does get loud as hell, to get it that way involves a huge sacrifice of sound quality...to be totally honest, it sounds like ass...I have it tuned quite high (62 Hz) cuz that is where it seems to hit the hardest, and any frequency below that really sounds like crap...you also need quite a large box for a Stroker to be loud, and you would want one of those amps per coil, if you are thinking about competing...6.5 cubes is a really sweet enclosure size, tuned to 62-63Hz will really hit some big numbers...
I hit 158 db in a 4 cu ft box...if I wanted to make the sacrifice and build a box that cant easily be installed and removed in my car, I could go alot louder I think...
