I got a stinky Dodge Intrepid and am looking for a wiring diagram for the radio.....I can find a 1997 diagram but the colors are all different. Anyone want to help? Dodge Intrepid 1996 thanks

What 97 diagram were you looking at? I'm about 99.9 percent sure that the wiring is the same for both years for that vehicle. If the plugs aren't cut, then you can always follow a diagram like this: http://carstereohelp.net/wireharness_Chrysler1.htm.

Even if the factory wire colors are different from what you might have seen somewhere, the plug pinouts are always gonna be the same. That's why I suggest that if you're installing an aftermarket deck you should get a wiring harness (Scosche CRB0, Metra 70-1817, or equivalent). Eliminates any cutting of the factory wires, and certainly eliminates the need for a wiring diagram.

If your plugs are already cut then the wiring should be something like these colors:

P o w e r

Memory (+12v Constant) RED / White

Ignition (+12v Switched) Red

Ground (-) Black or Braided Silver Wire

Illumination Orange

Dimmer (none)

Power Antenna Yellow

S p e a k e r s

Right Front (+) Violet

Right Front (-) Blue/Red

Left Front (+) Green

Left Front (-) BROWN / Red

Right Rear (+) Blue/White

Right Rear (-) Blue/Red

Left Rear (+) BROWN / Yellow

Left Rear (-) BROWN / Red

here's another set of colors I found:

BAT 12v >> Pink or Pink/White

ACC 12v >> RED / White

Ground >> *See Note

Power Antenna >> White

OEM Amp Remote >> White

Illumination >> BLACK / YELLOW

Dimmer (+) >> Orange

Dimmer (-) >>

LF Speaker (+) >> Dk.Green

LF Speaker (-) >> BROWN / Red

RF Speaker (+) >> Purple

RF Speaker (-) >> Blue/Red

LR Speaker (+) >> BROWN / Blue

LR Speaker (-) >> BROWN / Yellow

RR Speaker (+) >> Blue/Orange

RR Speaker (-) >> Blue/White

AGAIN, let me stress that you should USE A WIRING HARNESS! If you don't use a harness I must insist that you verify all these wires with a DMM before connecting them.

Thank you sooooo much......yeah the wires were already cut and the radio removed I wish I could find the original connectors....but oh well...thank you! Be prepared I have a 1951 Champion Studebaker I'll be working on and may want to ask everyone how hard it is to convert a 6volt system to 12 or so on.
