I want to add subwoofers and an amp to my 2000 explorer utilizing the OEM Premium sound system (CD, cassette, rear seat controls).  Does this system have RCA outputs that can be used for this purpose?  (save me the time of pulling the head unit to check)  And if not, any suggestions on how to get more boom without replacing the head unit?  Can I tap off of the speaker level outputs to go to an amp with speaker level inputs or will this degrade the signal going to the speakers?

your head unit dose not have rca outputs. The best way to do it is to tap into the rear speakers and use a high to low converter (LOC) to convert your signal to rca. From there run the rca cables to your amp and that will give your amp an input signal. If you have any more ?'s just let me know

I personally have a Explorer.. and I can tell you from experience of installing in it and other Explorers that you have a factory amplifer installed behind the rear passenger side panel of the cargo area. You will need to use the output wires from the factory amplifer for running the LOC. That should make things a whole lot easier for you. I have seen many installers try to run the RCA's off a LOC behind the stock radio, and it just doesnt work. Good luck with your system
