Vehicle - 1999 Saab 9-3SE
Dash Speakers - 3.5 inch
Door speakers - 6.5 inch
Rear shelf speakers - 6 inches by 9 inches
I've got $500 to spend on components for a new car stereo.
As of now, the plan is as follows:
Pioneer DEH-2200 UB or Alpine CDE-102: 129.99 or 149.99, depending on which one I get.
Alpine SPS-600 6.75 inch 2-way speakers: 99.99
Alpine SPS-608 6 by 9 3-way speakers: 119.99
That totals to $350 or $370, depending on which head unit I choose.
Am I missing out much by not using dash speakers? My primary reason for not using them is that I have no way to amplify them. I had a factory amplifier running the door speakers before, but it's shot.
If there are any modifications to this plan that anybody could suggest while still staying in budget, let me know.

Sounds like a plan.  Disconnect those dash speakers and forget about them, and use some of your left over money to get the proper wiring harness adapters for your car.
