I have a 1993 Ford Explorer setups with a Kenwood KDC-MP345U Deck, Rockford Fosgate Punch 400S Amplifier and a single 12" MTX MXS1204. My issue is not with the Sub-Woofer, but the Deck. It ran fine for the first year and a half after I had installed the system but about two months ago I stopped hearing sound from it. The deck and amp/capacitor were still powered but I couldn't hear anything. A few days later I heard sound again yet I hadn't done anything to try and fix it, then almost 30 seconds into the song that was playing on the radio it cut out again, and this proceeded to happen repetitively over then next month. I finally decided to take a look at the wiring to see if that was my issue. I admit that when I first installed it the wiring job wasn't nice so I reconnected everything the exact same way but a bit neater. The only difference was that I originally had the REM terminal on the amp wired to the amplifier remote (which I now realize was probably the right way) whereas after rewiring it was wired it to yellow battery wire (12V+ constant). That fixed the issue and my stereo worked for a few days until the deck suddenly lost power with a loud pop from the sub. Turns out the radio fuse blew. So I switched the amplifier REM terminal from the yellow to the red battery wire (12V+ ignition). This worked as well for a day when once again I heard a loud pop and the deck lost power. This time the radio and the headlamp fuses were blown. Since this last incident I've been working to get it running again but nothing seems to be working. It almost seems as if the deck is not working anymore. Could this be possible? If for some reason I get it working again I would like to know where to correctly wire the REM terminal for the amplifier. Thanks for any help anyone can offer...

Sounds to me like your head unit is dead/dying.  Likely time for a repair or replacement.
