noob, turning the amp up

If I have 1 DVC sub thats 2ohm (750rms) and a mono amp that does 1500rms @ 1ohm and 500rms @ 4ohm. Do I turn the bass all the way up on the amp? Sub is a 15" dual 2 ohm Alpine Type-R Amp is a MTX Thunder Elite 1501D Sorry. I'm new here.

for that amp, you should have bought a sub that was dual 4 ohm voice coils. can you tell me how you have the sub wired? did you just run both + and - together or did you jump one + to one - and send the other two that are left to the amp?

basically what is going to happen is depending on how your sub is wired you will either get too much power or not enough. i would go for too much power but you will have to keep a close eye on your sub so it doesnt blow.

easiest way to explain your settings is to set your gain so that it sounds good and clean when the radio is at the loudest you listen to it. if you just turn the gain and bass boost all the way up with no regard to how it sounds then you will blow your sub quickly.

Thanks for replying. I don't have it hooked up yet. I figured out that I should have got the 4 ohm also. Its Brand new and never been used. I was thinking about sending it back to get the 4 ohm. I also wanted to add another Type-R pretty soon so would this amp be good for running these 2 4 ohm subs? Would I be able to run them 1 ohm giving 750rms into each sub since my amp is 1ohm stable at 1500rms? Also, What gauge wires should i use for the amp and speakers.

that amp needs a GOOD 4 gauge power and ground. i recommend stinger, kicker, tsunami, knukonceptz, hooker, etc, whatever you get just make sure its a true copper 4 gauge or your amp could run hot. 14 gauge speaker wire should be plenty. if its an option for you then i would send the sub back and get the dual 4 ohm version and then when you want another one you will just need another dual 4 ohm sub to bring you down to 1 ohm for max power.
