Hi all,
I'm attempting to install a Kenwood after market deck in my grand am se and found a number of extra wires in the harness from the dash that are not mentioned in the wiring diagrams I've been able to find. I'll list what colours are coming out of the car and hopefully someone can help figure this out.
black+white stripe
dark green + light green (x2)
Purple (x2)
Solid black
Orange
Pink
light grey (x2)
Brown (x2)
Dark Blue and Light Blue
Tan
Yellow
Factory Stereo OEM: Delphi
Please note there are a total of 6 speakers in the factory setup. 2 in the rear, and, 4 in the front. 2 in the doors and 2 smaller ones behind the mirrors. If someone could give me run down on the specific functions of each wire, I'd appreciate it.

dk. blue and lt. blue is a speaker, tan and gray is a speaker, green and dk. green is a speaker wire, yellow and brown is the last speaker.
the orange should be a constant 12v positive power, pink might be the accessory turn on ( gets connected to the red wire of the new radio), blacks should be ground.
test each wire to make sure it matches up with what i wrote because those colors are standard GM radio colors but depending on the factory audio system it could be different.
any other wires would just be extra, like the illumination wire which turns on and off with the lights, your new radio may or may not have a dimmer input. not all wires from the factory harness will be connected to the new radio.

ok a further favour to ask, can you take a look at the following from kenwood and see you can make sense of where I'm supposed to hook what to?

Check pg 26. That's the wiring diagram for the deck. I'm thoroughly confused here.

Did you already hack the plug off of the vehicle's harness?

I kinda thought I had to cause all I have on the deck is bare wire on the end of the Kenwood harness. bought it used and the guy I bought it from hacked the end off it. Still have the plug for the stereo but nothing to attach to the car except the wires.

Never cut the plug off the car, there are very affordable solutions that would have you already listening to your new radio. This one sells for 20 dollars.

OK, so where do i go from here? I still need to figure out how to wire this up somehow or as far as I understand it the car won't even start because of the security system.

car wont start because of radio security system? highly unlikely... unless some other wires have been messed with. you can probably find the speaker and power wire connections by searching for your car in the wiring diagram section on this web site.
