Many years ago, I made a IPBus-to-RCA cable for my system. Lately, I've had a problem with the right channel not being heard and discovered a loose solder joint. I also found that the RCA cable ends I salvaged from an old Phoenix Gold set had a lot of corrosion built up in the shielding (from years of being under the carpet with humidity) so I decided to redo the set.
In checking the wires in the IP-Bus cable with the pins in the plug, the left channel negative is not showing continuity. This is odd since it was the right side that was acting up but whatever. I don't have any spare Pioneer IP-Bus cables lying around to salvage so I am wondering if I can solder the right negative to both the left and right negative wires of the RCA jacks I am using. I seem to recall being told once upon a time that ultimately, the negative side of both channels are essentially connected and it's the positive channels that creates the "stereo" effect...but I could be way wrong and not remembering right (there's been a lot of alcohol since my younger days when I did this all the time).
Thanks in advance for reading. I hope my description and question makes sense.
