The goal is to make these wire harnesses from the 7" screen radio

Look like these from the 8" screen radio

I put together a handy conversion table to see what goes where
I started by putting small lables on each wire and numbered them to their original location (in case things went wrong, I could always revert back), then painstakingly pulled the wires from their respective harness locations. Pulling those wires from the harness was by far the most difficult part. Then, using the conversion chart, I pushed the wires into their new locations. Two wires (#8 and #17) had to be pulled from the 20 pin harness, and relocated to the 40 pin harness to locations #40 and #60 respectively. Only one wire #29 (camera detect ground) from the original harness configuration had no where to go in the new configuration, so I taped it off and left it out. I also had to add a ground wire to the 20 pin harness at location #20.
I plugged the new stereo in, and everything works perfectly!
Mission accomplished!
