how can i hook an amp up to my car? i have a 2003 Monte carlo. what wire do i tap into for the remote wire?

Because this vehicle uses the Class II wiring system, there is no +12v switched wire in the radio's harness, nor would there be such a wire in the factory amplifier's harness.  Unlike a typical 12 volt component, the stereo and the factory amps in class II vehicles get their turn-on signals via the class II data wire.

You have to find the accessory/switched wire in the ignition harness.  Someone with access to Techsoft should be able to give you the right color codes.  Also you could try getting a switched connection from the fusebox.

As always, make sure that you verify that you have the correct wire by testing with a multimeter before connecting to it.
