Overcurrent

Sometimes when the amp turns on, the overcurrent light comes on, what does that mean and what can I do to fix it?  Thanks

What kind and model amp is it?  Does the amp shut down when this light comes on? 

I suspect this is an indication that you either have too low an impedance load on the amp, there is a short circuit in your speaker wires somewhere, or the amp is damaged internally.  Try disconnecting your speakers and powering the amp with no load.  If the light comes on, the amp needs repair.  If not, try connecting your speakers one at a time and see what causes the light.

Ah yes, this amp is famous for shutting down, and especially when trying to run subs.  I've seen four of these with similar problems, but only when using the low pass filter and trying to run it at 2 ohms.  The amp is supposed to be 2-ohm stable, but it has a real hard time with a 2-ohm load.  I think it is a design flaw, and Sony discontinued this amp a year ago.

I have never been a fan of the "X-plode" series, and this one is a dud for sure.  They do seem to work well for mids/highs, though, so you might consider changing your setup if you're trying to run subs with the Sony...
