I already have 2 12" w7's but don't know what amp to get.  I was thinking about 2 JL 500/1's but they are expensive.  What single amp can I get that will drive both of them?  I am looking for something that will stay cool and looks cool.  I don't like any of that chrome stuff.

Thanks guys.

Those subs will need about 1000 watts rms each so you will need 2000 watts RMS total . What is your budget on amps?

My budget isn't a lot.  But I do have a ton of stuff to trade in to my local shop.  I have about six amps, 2 headunits, and misc other crap.  probably more then enough to trade in on the two or three amplifiers I want.

Well if you’re going to trade your local shop I would talk to them and see what kind of quality equipment they would be willing to trade for. Those are some nice subs don’t run cheap amps with high distortion levels you will end up destroying the subs. You will want either (2) 1000 watt rms amps or (1) 2000 watt rms amp. If you are on a budget and had to purchase amps I would suggest (2) JBL 1200.1 one for each sub. http://www.purecaraudio.com/product.asp?0=200&1=352&3=322

One of my amps is already a BP1200.1  I may end up with doing 2 of them.  They are great amps and don't get hot.  But if I remember right there are 4  40 amp fuses in it.  That's some serious amperage on the car.... Please check out my post on another site to see my other issue...

Can you list your aftermarket accessories (and how many watts your amps are) so we can figure out the current draw?

right now I don't have everything but here goes...

Viper 550 ESP remote start, 530T window module

Kenwood KVT-911DVD, with 5.1 module, center speaker/amp, 2  7 inch kenwood monitors, 3 Farad Stinger cap, 1 Farad Lighting audio cap Strike series, Yellow Top Battery

2 sets of mb quartz 6.5 QSD and 2 JL w7 12's

Under car lights, 6" neons (under each side of dash), 2 or 3 15" neons in rear/trunk area (when finished), Sequential tail lights, 2 autometers gauges, and a kenwood EQ (forgot the model number.

I want to keep everything I have above.  But in my bedroom, I current have a BP1200.1, BP80.4, Coustic 4 channel (300 watts total), Audiobahn 2300 (big thing), 3 other little amps, 2 10" kappas, 2 kenwood excellon head units, 10 disc excellon cd, an extra 1 farad cap.

I could trade some stuff in and do just one more 1200.1 but I think the two of them need 228 amps total.  Plus the 50 amps for the 80.4.

I figure you have 5 neon’s @ 2 amps each 10 amps, + another 10 amps for all your other accessories so far we have 20 amps then the BP80.4 is 320 which will use 25 amps (but that’s 80 watts X4 @2 ohm, but from the speakers you list above sounds like you will be running 40 X4 @ 4 ohm for 160 watts which is 12.5 amps) then each 1200.1 draws about 94 amps. So total you will be using at max 220.5 amps on your accessories alone, but that’s at max draw which you will never be at. The car probably draws another 60 amps or so at its max draw.  . Now I saw your post on mustang world which is an excellent site. I spent allot of time there when I was into mustangs. I would suggest that you stick to a single alternator. And unless you listen to the music with the car off for extended amounts of time I would stick with one battery, now as far as the alternator goes try and find the largest one you can. You said you have gotten one before from MR. Alternator I have gotten many from them and they defiantly do make some excellent alternators. But I would call around and find the largest one you can. Below are some alternator manufactures you might want to try. Also when you upgrade your alternator don’t forget to upgrade all the power and ground cables between the alternator, battery, chassis, etc.

sweet.  with a brack down on the numbers like that.  I will just get the second 1200.1 and pick out a good alternator.  Thanks for all that info.

MW is an awesome site.  Haven't been here long but this site seems to pretty damn good as well!!

I think both sites are the best of both worlds. But if you go with the 2 1200.1's you will defiantly pump some clean power into those W7's and then just find the largest alternator you can and you should be okay.  Wire each sub in parallel to the amp http://www.audiobahninc.com/tech/wiring/parallel_parallel_dual_4.pdf if you have any more questions don’t hesitate to ask.
