My current system consists of two Powerbass 10" subs (250 RMS) and a Jensen 720 watt max amp. They are housed in a sealed box which is about 1 cubic foot of air space, with seperate chambers and filled with polyfill. My problem is that I don't seem to have the volume or quality that I used to have with these subs. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to make them sound awesome or if I should just upgrade my system. I am currently running a factory deck-high level inputs on the amp.

Also, what are some really good 10" subs. I have heard that the MTX Thunder6000A 10" are very good. I am looking for fairly loud speakers, capable of producing high SPL at lower power ranges(ie. think about my Jensen amp) but also maintaining a decent quality level. I do not want rattle or vibration or being able to hear the sub overextending. I want good clean loud thumps...

i dont know what you wan to do about your current system, but i can suggest two companies that i currently have and reccomend. i have two alpine r10s im my 85 s10 and those two are amazing even powered by the pos sony amp i have in there. But in my mothers car i am running th kappa perfect series by infinity and the 12.1 that i have puts out great clean bass i would suspect the ten would do the same. the perfect is powered by a rockford power 1000a2

I would suggest that you take a look at Eclipse's Aluminum series woofers http://www.eclipse-web.com/products/speaker/sw8100/sw8102dvc.html They put some excellent sound quality and tons of bass. They have a bottomless design so you don’t have to worry about them bottoming out. They have an Xmax (one way) of 1.20" so they will put out more bass then most 2 subs combine. If you really want some mind blowing SPL that will still maintain some sq I would take a look at the Titanium series http://www.eclipse-web.com/products/speaker/sw9100/sw9102.html But what is your budget on both your subs and amp?

I want to try to spend as little money as possble on this whole setup. I kind of figured that I would need to get new subs that's why I was looking at the MTX Thuner6000a's because I can get a pair for around 150. I would like to keep the pair under 200 (I realize this limits me to what I can get, but I have to buy tires soon, new exhaust, underbody kit...etc.).

well i dont know what you can do with that budget but both the alpines and infinitys i suggested you can get a pair of 10s for just over 200

Not sure what they sell for nowadays but the JL Audio W0's do pretty good.

I just took my g/f home and I had a limp bizkit f/ xzibit track on the radio and it was bumpin pretty good. Do you think that maybe this whole thing could have something to do with my head unit. I'm runnin high level outputs for the subs, my factory deck does not have line level but it is still a good deck.

I would suggest trying a new head unit it will do wonders and then work on upgrading your amp the subs will pound givin they have a good signal provided to them, and enough power. Your amp may be rated ? watts but is that true power , probably not. cheaper amps over rate the system power and more expensive are usualy under rated. keep that in mind but a new head unit would be where I would start If I were you.
