Eclipse Woofers

Ok Eclipse fans. I'm no where near ready to upgrade yet (I haven't destroyed my HX2's completely), but I'm starting my new "wish list". Main question is, what is the benefit of the Eclipse Titanium vs. the Eclipse Aluminum series? I run 12" subs, and plan to stick to that size. I know the obvious differences (500 vs 750 RMS, and 1.3 vs 1.5 xmax 1-way), what I am interested in is the not so obvious differences. Any thoughts? If I get the Titanium's I plan on getting a second RF 1000bd, and run 1 sub per amp at 1000 x 1 @ 2ohms (since they seem to only come in 4ohm DVC's). If I get the Aluminum's I'd have to figure something else out since RF amps aren't 1ohm stable, the the Power 1000bd is only 500 x 1 @ 4ohms. I'm just wondering if it is worth waiting for the ultimate, or go with a small upgrade at first (because I know the Aluminum's would probably still spank my Punch HX2's).Squirrel

The Aluminums are there SQ sub and the Titanium’s are their spl sub. You can’t go wrong with either sub. If your more of an SQ guy go with the Aluminums, they will still put out more bass then your average 2 12's and sound good doing so. If you want your neighbors to think their having an earthquake go with the Titanium’s. But for the amount of bass that they put out I'm amazed that they can still maintain the sq that they do.

As long as their SQ is equivilent or better then the RFD2112's that I currently have, I'll save for the Titanium's. I still enjoy a good mix of SQ and SPL, but I'd rather pound the ground if I can afford to. It looks like if I went retail all the way I would need at least $2,300 for two SW9122's and another Power 1000bd. If I went online I could probably get away with around $1,400. I may have to bite the bullet and finally do it, but I still worry about the warranty (especially with how hard I drive subs!). I already want more from my HX2's, I just can't afford it yet after the last upgrade. I haven't even decided on a final enclosure design yet for what I have! I keep changing it around but still haven't found what I'm looking for. I have to keep getting people to sit in the Explorer to prove to me that the bass is still as strong as the day I put it in. I hate that, you spend mucho dinero and eventually it still becomes not enough!Squirrel

$400 each from a dealer??? Thats a steal from what my local dealer sells them for, more like$800 each here. Think i need to take a road trip to your location to buy my next batch of stuff...

That's what I was thinking! $480 was the lowest I found them online from an unauthorized dealer, and that was Pure Car Audio! MSRP is listed online at around $800. I'll start watching ebay, but if your dealer still sells them for $400 I'd love to get his contact info!!!Squirrel

I got mine From the Al & Ed's Autosound located in Sherman Oaks (818) 990-6447 here in Southern California.  At first they wanted $800 each, but then after listening to them wine and complain about the offer I made them, they finally gave them to me for $ 800 for both out the door with a 3 year warrantee.

Thanks for the contact info Bberman1. pureRF: Not yet, but if I add a second 1000bd I will deffinately need one. I'm already putting a strain on the factory alternator with my current load from the (2) Kenwood 649s amps and (1) RF Power 1000bd, and the older Kenwood amps are starting to fail. Eventually I'll replace them with something like a Rockford Power 851x. Even then, (1) Power 851x and (2) Power 1000bd's will still require a HO alternator. So I'm going to save for the alternator first before I buy anything else, then get the 851x, then the (2) Eclipse's and 2nd 1000bd.Squirrel
