Hi, I am trying to install a Kenwood head unit in my GT-S. I had some installers look at my car and said I had to hard wire it in. Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the new celicas? How do I bypass the factory amp? Thanks.

70-1761 - TOYOTA 1987-UP - INTO CAR

Here is the wiring harness for this car & they cost about $ 5.00 - $ 7.00 at any car audio shop ( at least the good ones ) should have it. You do not need to hard wire it in. All you need to do ( if your car has OEM amplifier's ) is take the remote turn on lead of the afternmarket deck and wire it into the remote turn on lead of the OEM harness.

I bought that harness yesterday and the adapter for the kenwood so that I didnt' cut and splice. However, there isn't any connectors to plug the end of the 70-1761. I found the factory amp and the stock radio harness does not match up to any of the other wiring harnesses. The installer said something about there was a piece missing. I am not sure what part I am missing.  I tried matching up every plug behind my dash to the wiring harness (70-1761) and nothing was close to it. So, I have no idea what's going on with my car.

I have the "premium" 8 speaker system. Where is my amp located?

It is located behind the glovebox. To get to the stock amp: 1. Open the Glove Box 2. Turn the two plastic screws holding it in place to drop the glovebox to the floor. 3. The amp is located to the right.

best buy carries a harness for your car as long as you have a deck with 2 preouts. It allows you to send a low level signal or rca connection into the amp.... you bought a harness with 2 plugs 70-1761 you need the toy fact.amp adapt. harness... piece of cake
