Alpine 3528 help required

Ive just bought a 2nd hand Alpine 3528 amp. when i tried to get her to work today it wouldnt start. i had connected the ground, power and remote wires, but hadnt connected anyhting to the ignintion input in the power harness. Could the lack of connecting the ignition input on the power harness be the reason that the amp did not turn on? and what exactly is the ingnition input on the power harness, its it another form of remote wire, except running from the ignition? could i use another remote wire, or does it require a stronger current to start up the amp?

Some of the old old Alpine and Pioneer amplifiers had both a remote on lead and ignition lead, this may indeed be the case here, judging by the model number. I'll have a look around for my Alpine bible from years gone by, I'll find the dust pile first, can't be far from there. If my dusty old memory is correct, it does draw a little more current than a remote on, so either hook it up to an ignition lead or add a relay to the remote on lead and power both the remote on and ignition on through this.
