I purchased a new stereo for my 1991 Dodge Shadow.  My problem is the factory stereo was no longer installed and the previous owner had spliced the wiring.  All of the wiring harness'  I have found (even the reverse ones) don't match the original wiring colors.  I have looked all over just to find out exactly what each wire is for.  Please help?  The original colors are :  (fat) black /green, (small) Pink, Green, Purple, Orange. The others are multi colored : Red / White,  2 Yellow / Black,   Blue / White,   Blue / Red,   Blue / Orange,   Black / Blue,   Black / Red,  Green / Red.

just test the wires, get a multimeter check for 12v constant, 12v. ignition (key in on/acc position), ground, also check from illumination/dimmer its easy to confuse these wires for a ground and if its hooked up you could blow other fuses or have the deck go off or on when the head lights are turned on. best thing is when you find your power wires have the meter test the wires and turn the headlights on and off, and the dimmer up and down and see if there is any change in voltage. then to test for speakers take a AA battery and start with one wire and put it to + put another to - keep changing one wire till you hear a speaker pop then you know you have the right wires, then have someone if possible look at the speaker and pop it again and the cone should push outward when it does look at what color wire is on + and - and connect those to the corrosponding wires on the reverse harness, then just to the same for the rest of the speakers.
