Necessary SPL to Set Off an Average Car Alarm System?

A combination of factors such as distance, frequency, and volume. It is also determined by the placement of the sensor, the level of pre-warn / warning settings, and style. If the alarm in question is using a old style electromagnet assembly suspended upon a a rubber isolator. Then all the above factors play a major role. RFI and EMI also affect such lower tech sensors. If the sensor is using piezeo crystal technology, then the affects of RFI are reduced dramaticly. Electronic compensation from the alarm CPU, and the internal sensor also affect the pre-warn / warn. ie. Setting the unit to dual monitor, prior to tripping reduces false alarms 300%. Your goal with any impact / shock sensor is simply to detect impact, or direct contact of the exterior. If you are worried about outside disturbances, then you should invest in infrasonic, or unltra sonic sensors to eliminate the above factors. Regards EVIL Teken . . .

yeha i dont plan to run around every where with it up that loud, but i would like the ability. The mirror plan you have doesnt work. currently i can vibrate mirrors several cars back and still not set off alarms.Quad L Handyman services

humm, odd, i seem to be able to set off every alarm i try from about 200 feet away and i hit about 140 with my winter set up.     I went testing last night,. hehehe

I hit 147 in the summer and set off just about any alarm I can find if I want to. The real question is why. Alarms falsing is not a good thing because then people eventually just ignore them and I know that if my alarm goes off I want people looking outside to see why so I can hang on to my gear. I purposely have my shock sensor set weak and then installed a glass break sensor and a dual zone proximity sensor just so my alarm doesnt false when cars with loud stereos and pipes drive by.
