Hey, I just figured that my system is drawing about 80 amps because I have an 1100 watt RMS system and I have a 90 amp alternator... would it kill my alternator if I didnt replace it?  thanks

most likely.  Get a voltmeter in your car so you can keep an eye on your voltage at all times.  I blew a few alts, and now i have a volt meter so i know when i need to turn it down to let it charge back up, , and i know when i need to make the mad dash home when the alt blows, instead of being stranded.

how can you tell if your alternator blows?  im guessing it makes a high pitch squeling but maybe im wrong?  Mr. Alternator said they could make me a 120 amp alt, would this be good enough?

you can't tell when it blows, you just have symptoms, , like voltage drop, , or in the worst case, , your car just shuts off.

You may want to try for about 140.  Try www.mechman.com  they make the best alts i have seen, and cheeper then the competition.
