I have a 3 year old eclipse deck that has recently been malfuntioning.  Every few days, the volume will suddenly turn down to zero.  And everytime I turn it up, it will go back down again.  I figure it must be some type of faulty connection due to the fact that it only happens sometimes.  I know cd players are expensive to get looked at and fixed, so if anyone has any knowledge about what a problem like this might be caused by, please help!

Sounds like a faulty component (probably a capacitor or maybe a diode) in the power supply of the head unit.  You'll need to have it looked at.  It'll probably be cheaper to repair than to replace.  Take it to an AUTHORIZED Eclipse service center.
