I just finished my first sub/amp install in my ford focus. Since the stock HU doesn't have RCA outputs, I had to connect a line output converter. I'm now in the process of tuning the sub, and it occurred to me that there are little dials on the line output converter. The directions were incredibly vague, and I have no idea if the dials should be turned all the way up, all the way down, or right smack in the middle. Any thoughts?

On a focus deck I would seet the dials probally about 3/4. This adjust the input sensitivity of the line converter. Try about 3/4 then turn the car on and see if you get any strange reaction outta the subs such as ossilation, which means the subs move back and forth really slow, by themselves with no music playing. If they do then back the converter down, if they dont then you are good as gold

You adjust the LOC to the head unit, to get maximum signal-to-noise ratio.

1-turn the amp gains all the way down.

2-put in a cd that you're familiar with, and turn up the HU to its maximum CLEAN, undistorted sound. It will probably be at about the halfway point, or a little past.

3-Now, starting with the LOC gain all the way down, start turning it up until the music reaches its loudest level. You are maximizing the signal-to-noise ratio.

4-Now adjust the amp gains up slowly until you just start to hear distortion, then back them off a hair.
