I should be getting my IDQ12D2V2 early next month. I will have a wedge shape box made with 1cuft2. This sub will be powered by a Genesis Dual Mono bridged, should offer around 400rmws.

I would like to ask as my car is a hatchback and my existing JL fires towards the other side. Would firing the IDQ towards the boot be ideal? I always thought that subs need some space for the soundwaves to travel. I'm a bit tight on space so the IDQ may have to fire towards the hatch. Hatch distance is around 6" compared to the opposite side at around 30".

Any input much appreciated.

firing towards the hach is going to be perfectly fine. I wish I had something clever or whity to say to go along with it but I dont. Is gonna be ok though.

So what I heard before about allow the sound wave to travel is all bull?

No, it's not bull. It is a physical fact that lower frequencies need to travel farther to acheive maximum SPL, so that moving a sub forward in the car and then facing it to the rear maximizes the cabin gain at lower frequencies. But do you have to do that? No. Put the woofers in your car and experiment. Move them around and see what sounds best.
