1993 Ford Explorer JBL System wiring prob

I have a 1993 Ford Explorer with the JBL sound system. The wiring diagrams avaible on this site match up perfectly for the power connections and such, but how the speakers are connected is much different. Unfortunately I'm past the point where a wiring harness would be an option. The connection for the speakers is grouped into a seperate piece that I've cut to expose the wires, there are 8 wires plus an unshielded ground. I've tried to identify the speakers by connecting them to a battery so I could listen for static, but not a single combination made any noise. I've also tried searching the forums but couldn't find any information specific to my situation, does anyone know what I should try next? Thanks a ton.

you wouldnt perhaps be testing the preamp cable connecting to the radio would you?Kevin Gerry

That does sound quite possible, If I were to crack open the area where the amp(s) are would it be easy to distinguish the proper wiring order?

Has anyone previously done this? I've started working on getting to the amps but there is a TON of work involved to get to them. If someone already has the colors I need to connect I'd REALLY appreciate it.

what exactly is it you are trying to do?    the amps in that vehicle are in the right rear quarter panel area and the amp bypass etc. would have to be done there, unless you just use an amp integration kit/plug right at the radio which sounds much better and is much easier to do.....Kevin Gerry
