I moved my ground to a different bolt in the same area and i was listening to my stereo and it stopped. I checked and it was the fuse on the amp. so, i replaced and the next thing i know pop, fizz, flames, and smoke. not just sparks I mean the damn thing was on fire. Can anyone tell me what the hell might have happened. I can't see why moving the ground wire would do this, but maybe one of you can. If not the ground what else could have happened. The amp was only two weeks old. I really don't want to go through too many amps or even worse torch my truck.

did you fuse the power wire at the battery??    did you put a bigger fuse in your amp then what it had in it?  did you buy cheap equipment ?

What kind of an amp you got ?,are the pos and neg power wires thick enough, what gauge are you using, sorry about all this questions but we would like to help you,and yes like jeffchilcott said you do have a higher value fuse near the battery ?,do you have any other amps besides the one that fried ,maybe your fuse (main) just wasn't right, check them out and let us know, good luck !

the amp is a legacy red series 2 LA770 1000watt 2ch.The ground is 4gauge and the power is either 6 or 8 i don't remember. The power was fused at the battery and i didn't put a higher rated fuse in. Any ideas what it could be. sorry it took so long to answer questions.

thanks
