Polarity confirmation on Focus

Hi,

I'm a newbie and apologize it this had been discussed ad nauseum. but..........

I checked in the wiring database and there was no into for my car.

I have a 2003 Ford Focus (4 door) with Visteons 6006 head unit.

I'm switching out the speakes only and need confirmation of polarity of oem wiring.

Information I have indicates the following  Front Speakers: White (+),  Grey (-)

                                                                            Rear Speakers: WH / VT (+), GY / WH (-)  

Is this info correct?

Thanks much, man.  I have them installed and they sound terriffic. 

I switched out the oem speakers ( which are tolerable) for Boston Acoustics FX8's. 

BTW, I put them in all four doors.  4:5 audio people I spoke with told me it was a waste of money to put new speakers in the rear doors.  Is this because they assumed I would have a sub-woofer in the rear of the car?

Also, I put some dynamat in the doors.  Not full sheets but around the speakers, behind the speakers and a few squares in large areas of the doors.  Probably won't win awards, but its the best sound I've ever had in a car.

True that.  As I become more accustomed to the Bos Acc, I do wish they had more mid-range.  The tones, bass and treble,  are full and crisp, but  seem over power the mid range, most notably the vocals.  Local audio guys love the sound of my speakers but explained that what I'm probably noticing is the limitation of the OEM head unit to keep the tracts distinct.  They tell me an amplifyer will "clear up" the sound, probably to my likeing..

That would be expensive.  I'd need an amplipher for 4 channels so I could fade, plus a cross-over unit (or some such device) at any rate one shop said it would be around $300 installed..  New head unit with better amplipher makes more sense.

However, I got some advice that cost nothing to implement.  This guy said speaker location has a great deal to do with enjoyment and car companies make cars not sound systems, so the speaker placement is ususlly less than ideal.  He suggested I move the balance toward the drivers side 2-3 places and fade the sound towards the front 2 places.  That made a noticable difference.  The sound tracks sound more distinct and vocals more present.

I think that is all I'm going to do for now.  The speakers are amazing even if the head unit is less than the bestl.

Not only are the specs impressive on the Hifonics amp. but the size appeals to me as well.  I like to keep my interior with an understated look and that amp looks like it could fit under the seat, or hidden somewhere.
