I boght a standars metra-color coded wiring harness for a 1984 Chevrolet Camaro Z28. The HU connector on the harness was 2 pins too long for the DRX6475 , so i had to splice the old connector onto the new one. th eproblem is that the last 2 pins that i eliminated were what i believe to be the dimmer wires, because they connect to a seperate 2 wire connector in the car. on the factory stereo there was a special connector for it that was built into the head, but on this Clarion HU, there is no place to put the connector. somehow i wired the 2 extra wires into the constant power line and switched power line, and now when you turn the car on, the parking lights turn on, and when you dim the car's lights down to nothing, the stereo turns off. When the car is on accessory turn-on, i can hear the realays ticking under the hood. can someone help me with the wiring on it, and does anyone have any idea why it's turning the parking lights on?

Thanks,

-John

sounds like you wired the remote wire on the deck to the luminate wire(dimming wire) so when you turn on the deck, your remote is feeding back into the parking lights. connect the wiring harness that came with the deck back onto the deck and wire that to your car. DONT hook up the luminate, you don't need it for the deck to operate correctly. hook up the speakers(white, grey, purple, green, the accessory wire "red"(shows 12v+ when ignition is on and not cranking), "yellow" constant power, and "black" to a good ground "16 gauge" make it your self. you will be supprised.
