Hello,

I'm new to the audio stuff. I have got some equipment that was given to me

1 HCCA 250 (old but works)

     1 Pioneer 300watt amp

      2 10" JL Audio subs

I don't know much about crossovers but I have 2 JL's that were used for mids and tweeters and another one that I dont know what it was used for.  I can attach a pic of it if needed.

I want to put this stuff in my '95 Bronco. I do alot of off roading with it, but hey if I can have some cool tunes while wheel'n why not.  I want to put the subs in the back of my Bronco but do not want to put a BIG box in the middle of my floor. Can anyone give my some suggestions on how to install all this stuff?

Here is a link for my Bronco. The pics are at the bottom just click to open

You will not need what I consider a big box in the middle of your floor.  What model JL?  It will be like W1, W0, W3 something like that.  Each line has different box requirements.  You also need to identify the "mids and tweeters".  Pictures are helpfull.  Same goes with the amps, identify them.  Do you have a deck? What model is it?  Send pictures if you cannot do it yourself, people here will help you.

Know what your going to do with each component.  After you identify what you have, plan out the system and find out whatelse you may need.  Then you can start thinking about were everything goes, were you will mount the amp, run the wires, how to build a box for the subs.

But lets identify what you have first.

That orion amp is awsome, I love those things. With the subs you could consider building a box on one side of the vehicle that molds into the side of the vehicle. Thats probally what I would do.
double-secret reverse-osmosis speaker-cone-induced high-level interference distortion, Its a killer

Thank you for your response.

I will check the subs tonight after work.

I do not have the mids and tweeters, need to buy some.

I have a JVC tape deck with a JVC 10 disc changer. I did this to deture steeling. Who wants a tape deck, lol.

No I do not know what I am doing

What do you mean by, what am I going to do with each of the components?

I will take a pic of the back of my Bronco to give you an idea of what I "think" I want to put the equipment.

Each part of your system is a component. The subwoofers, the tape deck/cd changer, and each of the amps are separate components.

You probably will not need to use each of the amps on a separate subwoofer. So once you have identified them, you can decide which one you want to use on the subs giving you a "spare" amp at the moment.

I would recommend using the other amp to amplify your full range speakers (your mids and highs, the ones you don’t have). Allot of people think that the power (watts) quoted by the deck is a real number, it isn’t. The devil is in the details: Were your deck may produce 25x4 (25 watts into 4 channels), it is 25x4 at 5.0% distortion. Those amps you have probably produce thier rated power at around .05 % distortion. See the decimal point move? So the power output of the deck is distorted, shredding your music. Since you already have the spare amp, it would be a small investment to give yourself great sound by upgrading your fullrange speakers.

I looked and could not find the details on that HCCA 250, but (as Ravendarat said) those old Orions are a good product.

It is ok that you donot know anything, this is actually easier than it is made out to be. If you installed your own deck and cd changer then you are off to a good start (did you?). If you ever do any of your own work on the Bronco, at least you are familiar with the vehicle.

And yeah, who wants a tape deck, when I walk by someone’s car and see a tape deck, my heart goes out to them.

I looked through your pics, your in the military? I was at the Fairbanks PX this weekend and they had some good car audio deals, you might shop there (your local PX/BX) when you go to buy your installation kit and other goodies for this job.

Yeah I'm in the military (Army). As a matter of fact I JUST left Ft Richardson in May. I am at the 5th RTB now, Mountain phase of Ranger School.  We don't have a P/X here. I would have to drive 3.5 hrs to Benning.

As for the work on my Bronco I did everything. So you could say I know my vehicle.  As far as mechanical. The only thing I have done other than the radio and changer is the off road lights.

I plan on using the Orion on the subs and the other on the mids and tweeters. Question: will some good full range speakers work for me? Or, is it better  to have the seperated? Like I said before, I'm not trying to compete or anything like that. I just want some good sounds. If buying seperate is better then oh well.
