Hi. I want to install a cd player into my car. I have red the instructions for the wiring, but my car is a former police car bought from a car auction and instead of the usual ISO connectors of red, blue, black, yellow, it has red-white, black-white, red-grey, black-grey. So the car used to have some sort of police radio.
Does anyone have any experience with this alternative wiring colours? Maybe they could help me.

Most vehicles do not conform to ISO wire codes. Have a look at www.installdr.com to see if your particular vehicle is listed there. As you are in the UK, chances are that they are not. You might have a little more info that can be had at www.ifitstuff.com. This is a UK based website that just might have some of the answers for your vehicle. Failing that a good old DMM is going to be your friend. Most police vehicles here keep their stock am/fm radios and add a whole pile of new circuitry to run additional equipment.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
