Nothing from the sub

Ok, I've been having this problem for a coupple of months now, and I'm finally pissed off. Problem is, I'll be driving down the road, and all of a sudden, the volume from the sub will start to fade. If I'm lucky, it'll come back to full power. But sometimes, it'll just cut alltogether. I've had this rpoblem with 3 different amps. 3 AMPS!!! So tonight, I finally take the sub out of the car and decide to check all of it's wiring. It all looked good, but I decided to re-do it anyways, it was lookin kinda messy. I hoped that this would fix the problem, so I put it back in the car, turn on the radio, and....   nothing. So, I recheck all of the wiring. Good. Then I turn on the radio and ten pull out the RCA's. The sub thumped when they were disconnected and then reconnected, so I know that there's current going thru it. Now my question is, do I have a bad sub, HU, amp, RCA, or what?? It could be in the sub, but this is unlikely. Rca's could cause the problem if they are partialy pinched and movement pinches them more.   I would think it would be more likely a problem with the deck. Try swapping another deck in and drive it for a couple of days, or even use some locs for rca's.Certified Security Specialist

What's the sub and what's the amp?  What impedence load is on the amp?Support the12volt.com

sounds like a problem on the rca jacks for the amp. I see this happen all the time someone come in to get a new amp trade in thier broken one for a $10 credit and something easy to fix the biggest ones are internal fuse blown or bad rca jacks     if the rca jacks are loose try re solidering them or replacing them this should fix your problem2009 0-1000 Trunk WR 154.0DB 2009 1001+ Trunk WR

Took the sub out of my car and hooked it up in a friends car, worked great. Took the amp out of my car and hooked it up to his car, worked great. So then I had to decide if it was the deck or RCA's. Had a new pair of RCA's lying around the house. hooked them up and threw them to the back, worked great. Re-rean the RCA's in a different way so as not to pinch them. Thanks for your input.
