I am working on a project where I have a 12volt sealed battery, I am trying to run a portable cd player (4.5v) and a set of speakers (9v) off of this small battery.  Do you all know of a good way to do this?  I have noticed that I could just buy some universal adapters, and they should work ok, but I wanted to see your opinions.  Also, what would be a good way to charge this battery?

or just buy speakers for $20 to $40 that run off 12 volt and a $100 deck for the car if money is a issue
