Does anyone here know how to go about putting a HU in a 1998 Ford ZX2. The heat/ac controls are on the same thing as the stock radio. I looked around on cardomain, and it looks like there is a new dash piece that replaces the old one. Where is this sold? Is it easy to put in? Any info would be great.

You can find this kit at any Best Buy, Circuit City or basically anywhere installs are done.  They run around $60.00.  You will need a pair of ford radio removal tools to pull the old unit out.  When you are researching this part, don't look for ZX2, look for Ford Escort.

Does this piece have its own heating and ac controls, or would I just take the knobs off, switch out the trim piece, and put the knobs back on?

You will have to remove your knobs and the snap in connectors of the rear of the factory unit and transfer them to the aftermarket kit
