I have a P.O.S. commuter car Im putting a stereo in so I have tunes on my hour and fifteen min each way commute. I am going Alpine CDA-9830, sirius add-on, Nice MB Quart fronts, average rear speakers (if I put in any at all). I have  a few subs lying around all 12". I have 2 old school orions and 2 mtx 8000's I also have 2 sub enclosures. 1 bandpass for 2 12" and 1 sealed box for 2 12" subs. SO im looking for an amp to run the fronts and an amp to run the subs. I dont want to go highend but I dont want crap. Whats the best bang for my buck? I see a bunch of new hifonics and soundstreams dirt cheap on Fleabay. The car is a 98 geo prizm. SO which subs, which enclosure and what amps do I run? Also I have a IDQ 10" lying around I could throw into a small box. I was thinking about doing the 10" in a sealed box and run a 5 channel amp to run the entire system? Please give me your opinions. THanks

my recomendation is to run the MTX's in a sealed box with Boss amps all around. the trick to buying boss amps is, if it says it runs 1400 watts, act like it has a # 1/2 that big. i nkow some people here have had bad experiences with boss amps but i had one powering my mtx 6000's and it still runs like a champ (i sold it but i know it is still runnin' strong). good luck. ~Ryan

PS: hey, boss is better than sony!

Soundstream van gogh 800.5. This 5 channel amp will power all your system. You can get it for like $300 if you look in the web.

I'd buy a separate mid/high amp and sub amp - for no other reason than flexibility down the road, should you decide to get a new sub.
Try the IDQ 10" you have laying around in a small box, I've been pleased with mine. It doesn't have the lowest lows and isn't the loudest either, but if you listen at moderate levels like I do, you could be very satisfied with the quality sound while not needing much power or space.

I would buy seperat amps, since you are on a tight budget go to etronics.com and check out what they have. I would go to locustaudio.com and get the kenwood excelon 811d 235 for a 1000 w amp and it howrks great, and it is cea compliant. you can go to walmart and get a sony 4 ch amp for 100.00 I have this amp it is 500w rms is about 50 per ch. and sound great. you can get some kenwood 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 for around45.00 at etronics.com

I was looking at the 5 channel amps, but the sub output is so minimal. Im going to go with a 75x2 or 75x4 amp, and Id like to pick up a lower end 1000w amp to push my mtx 8000's. the cheapest amps I see on ebay right now are the soundstream vango and some of the hifonics stuff. Do you guys see any problems going with either of those brands (preferences???)? I think I can get those amps for under 200.00 each. HU, I think Im going to go 9830 from alpine so I can get the sirus add-on module for it. Id run my CVA-1005 in my beater but it wont control the sirus add--on unit so Im stuck buying a alpine.

Budget .... $250 = 9830 from alpine 400 max for 2 amps. Thats spending more than I want but  I think that sould get me a decent setup.

Check into JBL, they have some great amps at really good price ranges. Soundstream isnt bad and alot of people on here really like Hifonics stuff. I have to respond to the comment about Boss. I hate sony but would by one any day of the week over a Boss amp. I personally have no use for something thats that usless and blows up that often. I thnk sony crashes way more than they should but personal experience is that boss amps break more than they work. Thats just unacceptable to me.

among everything I have to ask..what are you going to do about that little 65amp alternator under the hood?   might want to really consider a single sub and small amp...just my thoughts
