Hello all,

this is my first time here posting and my first car audio i want to take on.  The trouble is I have very limited knowledge on how to do the actual wiring of my equipment.  Any knowledge that i do have is from surfing the net.  However, useful info at my level of expertise is rare.  I'm looking for a basic how-to, step-by-step instructions on how to wire an aftermarket system.  i already have all the equipment (minus speakers).  What do I hook up first, or better yet from what i've gathered which wire (+ or -) do i dissconnect from the battery first?  Do i then connect the HU first or the amps?  When installing the amps do i connect the ground wires before any thing else?  As you can see I'm a little lost as to the systematic chronological order in which to do things.  Some guidance is greatly appreciated!

If there is any posts regarding my requests can anyone please kindly point me in the right direction.  At the point i want to learn as much as possible.  so i'll read any and everything.

use the proper Metra wiring harness for the radio, this will simplify things and (hopefully) prevent you from hooking something up wrong and blowing it up....always hook up your ground first when wiring an amp...in fact do all the wiring and then double check it and then finally put in the fuse from your primary cable to the battery..... the rest is straight forward common sense... make sure to observe the polarity of your speakers when hooking them up, etc.....

And disconnect the ground cable from your battery before you do anything.  HERE's a good place to start.  Read the entire page before you begin so you make good chioces.
