I'd like to put together a good sounding system for my 1997 F350 crewcab truck but I'm on a very tight budget.  What would be a good combination of amp and sub for this vehicle at a reasonable price?  I'm not looking for a competition sound system,  just something with some bottom end that sounds better than stock.  Truck already has a JVC head unit and Infinity  speakers from the previous owner.  Are the Sony Amps at Wal-mart and places like that any good??  Like I said, tight budget.

Thanks

Gimme an idea as to what your budget is for this....If I have a price range then I can help you...

Even though you are on a budget dont waste money on cheap equipment...The amps at wal-mart are almost garanteed to be refurbished equipment....

IF nothing else get everything a piece at a time....Save your money then go buy a good amp...Then save and buy a good sub and box combo.....

IF you get good equipment you will always have something....If you buy cheap stuff chances are that it will tear up and then you are just left with cheap crap....

I was thinking $200-300 for the amp, same for speakers.  Can it be done??  They don't have to hear me coming 4 blocks away but I would like to feel the bass, I'd also like to tie in my existing speakers so it all sound better.

Well there are many many different subwoofers that are very inexspensive but still very very good at what they do. Check adireaudio.com for the shiva for 125 i think you can get a very capable sub that doesnt need a large amp (less money) and can be put in a small box (saving room in the truck) then you could get a small amp to power it for a 100 so you can get a nice simple system for a few dollars.

Those sound good.  What size amp should I get or would I have to get two to tie everything together?  Would I need crossovers, etc??  Please bear with me, I haven't fooled with this stuff since I was a teenager!

Ok wow you have alot of money for an amp if your willing to spend 200-300 for the amp. look at JBL 600.1 that would power the shiva perfectly

Wal-mart is a OK place to shop and do not sell refurbished car audio products. If an item is refurbished they are obligated to let the purchaser know this. (at least here they are). A Sony or Pioneer bought at Wally World is no different than the one that is bought at Future Shop / Best Buy or any other store.

Friends don't let friends buy Sony though.

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
