I am planning on purchasing a new amp and sub in the near future, and I am wondering what is the best out there, that isn't too much money? I mainly listen to rock and heavier music, and I am more interested in SQ rather than how far away people can hear my stereo.  I was planning on a pair of 10's, but due to my prefrence I was recommended to get one 12 instead. The amp I don't want to spend too much, under $300 preferrably. I would like to stay right around $200 for the sub(s) total. So for amp and the sub(s) about  $500 max. I just purchased  a new Alpine CDA-9833 hu, and 2 sets of polk db 675 6 1/2 for my mids from crutchfield (hopefully it will sound good for highs and mids once I get them). If needed I can build my own box (with instructions) to the recommended size.

For subs look into; IDMAX, elemental designs, adire shiva, ascendant audio atlas or a alpine type-r.
For amps check out this Autotek 550.2
