Quick question for you out in install land. I just bought a Kicker L7 and it is rated at 1500 watts peak. Is that how many watts each voice coil can handle or is that how much the entire sub can handle total (ie add the wattage going thru each coil)? I've been installing for a long time and this question just crossed my mind. Dunno why it took so long haha, kinda wierd. Anyways, if anyone knows the answer could you pass on the knowledge? Thanks

Kicker 12' L7 is rated at 750 watts RMS in a sealed enclosure with both voice coils driven.  Each VC can handle half that or 375 watts.  The power handling is reduced in ported enclosures.  Some speakers give per-VC ratings but most commercial subwoofers list the total for both (and list meaningless peak ratings) because the numbers are larger and it sells more units.

Thanks DYohn, thats what I had expected. Just before I put 375 watts thru a coil that might have been able to handle 750 watts I thought I would get a second opinion.
