That's right, no more metal dome tweeters! I swapped them out last night. Rainbow CAL 25 silk.
My main problem with my tweeter setup was that they are too high. They are about chest level and too far from the mid so no matter the tweeter they are going to be on the bright side. Now if I had the tweeter placed properly it might be a different story with that metal dome. I even had the metal ones placed on the -6dB attenuation.
The sound that is produced by these silk dome tweeters is quite different. They are far less "lispy" like the metal domes. One loss though is the detail (although very minor and well worth it). For example cymbals are not quite as detailed and the spalsh is not as crisp. I also think the upper volume level has gone down a bit, but again it still remains smooth and non-fatiguing.
I don't really know that I will ever own hard dome tweeters again, or at least not unless they are properly installed. So at this point I am the happiest with my system that I have been in a while.
