sub location

I am getting readt to install this setup and am wondering what the best location is the best for the sub? It is going to be installed into a completely dynamated 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The headunit is an Eclipse Cd8454 which I wll power a set of 1" tweets in the dash. The front and rear doors will each contain a 6.5" cdt 2 way componet set and be powered by 2 JL 300/4's. The sub is a single JL 13.5w6v2 which will go in a sealed enclosure in the hatch area being powered by a JL 500/1. I cant decide where to position the sub. I want to keep as much of my cargo area as possible hence the w6v2. The drivers side has a spare tire and the passenger side has a small storage area which I dont use (the place where JL has their stealth box designed for). That location is fine only my question is should I face the sub toward the front of the vehicle? Or should I just face it like their enclosure toward the drivers side spare tire? Would it make that much of a difference? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Bass is predominately omnidirectional but i find that at certain frequencies it usually works better to aim it backwards and that allows for it to form better. but i can only go from a hatchback point of view never dealt with a SUV.

i would suggest having the sub facing up in an SUV

I have my sub facing to the side in the trunk of my car and it sounds perfectly fine.  No lack of bass at all.

The best thing to do here is experiment (if possible) There really is no absolute best answer to this one, just some basic guide lines to follow and trial and error.
