Does the 05 avalanche have the problamatic issue of the gear shifter hitting the screen on a motorized in dash?

Yes. Two remedies. Set your screen in manual mode so you can open it after you are in gear or in So. Cal. there is a guy who actually bends the shifter. I don' know if you have a machine shop in your area that will do the same.
