ok i kno this amp is 1.5 ohm stable but i was wondering if running it at 1 ohm would really be harmful for the amp..anybody ever done this or know if it will damage the amp??

I don't know what anybody else thinks about this, but...

...if I were a manufacturer who is marketing an amplifier capable of handling a 1 ohm impedance load...

...I certainly wouldn't cut my potential sales by advertising it as capable down to 1.5 ohms...

...unless it truly were.

The manual states it like this: "If you connect a load lower than 1.5 ohms nominal to the 1000/1, the amplifier protection circuitry activates a "safe" mode which reduces amplifier power to protect the circuitry from failure (the yellow LED on the top of the amplifier will light to indicate that this has happened)."

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

JL audio "slash" series will run at any ohm rating between 1 and 4 ohms. This does not effect the power output of the amplifier these amps are automatically adjusted digitally for the impedance of the subwoofers. So the output of the 1000/1 at 1 ohm is the same at 4 ohm

I think Stevdart is right, "slash" series amps are stable from 1.5 to 4 ohms. Hence the 1.5 ohm voice coils on the 13.5 inch W7 woofer.

There is no such thing as free installation!

yah i guess i forgot that those amps were 1000rms from 1.5 to 4 ohms..now do you guys think its necessary to run bigger power/ground wire to the amp...meaning bigger than 4gauge..im running 1/0 for power and 4 out of the dist. block but should i run 2gauge or would that not matter that much?

How long is your cable run from the distru block to the amp? Less than 10 feet, 4 gaga is fine.

The terminals will accept 4 gauge direct. I wouldn't use anything larger than that unless, as DYohn suggests, its more than 10 feet. Otherwise it should be fine.
